Anti-Virus (AV) – Virus Scanning at a higher level
SkyScan
AV is the flagship of the MessageLabs SkyScan portfolio of
services. Powered by a global network infrastructure of Control
Towers, which are clustered at major internet exchange points,
SkyScan AV operates at the Internet level, and is the world's
most advanced anti-virus service. It derives its effectiveness
from the use of three traditional AV scanners, plus Skeptic
™, its own revolutionary and patented heuristic and rules-based
virus scanner. Skeptic is the most advanced anti-virus technology
in the world for identifying new viruses and, because it has
no need to rely on virus signatures, ensures immediate protection
for its customers.

Does SkyScan AV Work?
All
customers' inbound and outbound e-mail is simply rerouted
through the Control Towers, where it will scan by four industry-leading
virus scanners (one is no longer enough) before being passed
on to its final destination. The whole process has no discernible
impact on e-mail delivery times – on average it takes under
one and a half seconds to process an e-mail – making it
totally transparent to the user.

SkyScan
Anti-Spam (AS)
MessageLabs will provide customized anti spam solution. We
will provide companies with as many ways as possible of fighting
spam – both tried and proven methods together with innovative
methods of our own.
Based
on our research, stopping spam will result in a lessening
of mail of between 10 and 20%. This percentage has been gradually
increasing over the last year, and we expect it to continue
to increase. Companies are now increasingly becoming spam
targets and Spammers send literally millions of emails to
these companies, which can be so great that the company's
mail servers are no longer available for legitimate business
use
